Allegria's ForReview 3.2
Expands Document View & Mark-up Capabilities
For Users Throughout the Enterprise

Laguna Hills, CA. March 10, 1997. Allegria Software Inc. has announced the latest version of its industry-leading ForReview view and mark-up software. ForReview 3.2 is a significant leap ahead in providing enterprise-oriented view and mark-up solutions that combine a uniquely rich and configurable user interface with support for leading CAD systems, file formats, and document management systems. ForReview 3.2 is designed to allow users to access, review, mark-up, and print documents throughout a heterogeneous computing environment, without the expense and support hassles of deploying the originating applications to every desktop.

According to Koushik Dutta, Allegria's Vice President of R & D, "The quality, accuracy and intelligence in ForReview's AutoCAD and Microstation DGN support will set new standards in the CAD view and mark-up industry."

Key New Features In ForReview 3.2 include:

Enhanced AutoCAD Support ForReview 3.2 provides full support for AutoCAD R13, thereby enabling Windows desktop users throughout the enterprise to access and comment upon AutoCAD document files regardless of the originating version of AutoCAD used to create the documents. In addition to R13 support, ForReview 3.2 also provides more precise rendering and improved syntax checking for AutoCAD files.

Intergraph/Microstation DGN Support ForReview 3.2 now supports DGN CAD files, including the ability to display different 2D/3D views (including Named Views), Levels, Cross Reference files and support for most Microstation rendering options.

Double Byte Character Sets ForReview 3.2 now includes built-in support for double byte character sets, which opens the door for usage of ForReview with Far Eastern languages. Japanese, Chinese, Korean and other Asian characters can now be directly entered and displayed properly in the text and note mark-up objects. In addition, ForReview 3.2 now also supports fonts, printer drivers and filenames within the particular double byte character set based language. ForReview automatically detects during installation the character set environment.

New mark-up objects ForReview 3.2 includes two new mark-up objects: cloud and picture-block. These mark-up objects are available from the mark-up object toolbar. The cloud object is a popular mark-up object to be used with text. The picture-block object allows the user to include a link to an external picture file to be included as a mark-up. Both objects can be resized and rotated.

Screen save enhancements Improved "Save As" in ForReview 3.2 for converting vector or raster screen contents to a raster file. Users can burn-in mark-ups and optimize the "saved as" output based on size and dpi.

Long filename support ForReview will now allow you to open any file with long names created on Windows '95 or NT. With this new feature, ForReview 3.2 runs in the Windows 3.1, Windows '95 and Windows NT environments.

New API and Command line functions Several API functions have been added to ForReview 3.2 to open and print multiple documents and mark-ups using a single function. This option is also supported through the Windows command line.

Special "out-of-box" integration with EDM/PDM systems ForReview 3.2 expands upon Allegria's strong partnerships with leading EDM/PDM system vendors by simultaneously releasing a full range of "out-of-box" integrated versions for ForReview 3.2 that are optimized for specific EDM/PDM systems. These optimized integrated versions include Documentum, Metaphase , Autodesk's WorkCenter, ADRA's Matrix and PC DOCS' DOCS OPEN

Accessing ForReview from UNIX via WinCenter Pro software WinCenter Pro provides a seamless integration between Windows and UNIX which enables ForReview 3.2 or any other Windows 95/NT/3.1 application including the EDM/PDM systems that ForReview is integrated with to be accessed from within any standard UNIX environment. Utilizing WinCenter Pro enables ForReview to become an even more complete enterprise solution by extending its feature-rich Windows-based view and mark-up capability to UNIX users, without requiring the deployment of additional software on the UNIX platforms.
