Partnership Provides One-Stop Shopping for Matrix Customers

(Chelmsford, Mass.), the leader in solutions that dramatically improve product development competitiveness, has partnered with Allegria Software to resell the ForReview™ family of view and mark-up products. The agreement delivers the convenience of one-stop shopping to MatrixOne customers who wish to integrate additional viewing and mark-up capabilities to Matrix.The integration between Matrix and ForReview was completed in 1996 and has been used successfully at a number of customer sites to facilitate improved collaboration and communication, helping companies reduce product time-to-market. Matrix and ForReview allow users to read or mark-up drawings and other product information without having to use the original application. Matrix provides secure management of the marked-up files, facilitating better communication and collaboration throughout the enterprise.

Mark-up File Management
ForReview automatically handles the management of mark-up files for any document. ForReview's mark-up paradigm provides the concept of unlimited mark-up layers per mark-up file, as well as multiple mark-up files that can be associated with any document. This paradigm can support either sequential or concurrent mark-up processes. When checking out a document for viewing, marking up or printing, ForReview always retrieves a read-only copy of the document from within Matrix that enables a concurrent mark-up process.Document Queries
Queries to the Matrix repository can be entered directly from ForReview based on specific criteria. This includes the folder (business object), revision number, or author name. For example, a user can ask ForReview to display a list of all files that are at revision level 2.0 and associated with a particular folder (business object). ForReview then provides a list of all files meeting the criteria for the user to pick from. Either single or multiple files can be selected from the list to view, mark-up or print.Document Comparisons
Also, users can easily compare two document revisions stored within Matrix directly from within ForReview. The documents can be automatically overlaid on top of each other, where differences become apparent using ForReview's compare feature. The two documents can also be placed side-by-side for comparison. A good usage of the latter is for comparing an original document (including its mark-ups) to the next revision of the document to see if suggested changes have been implemented.Multiple Sessions/Working with Groups of Documents
The Matrix ForReview Integration also facilitates handling multiple sessions or user logins without having to exit and re-enter ForReview. Also, in many cases a project may require a number of documents that need to be acted on as a group. As such ForReview supports the basic concept of working with a group of documents or a folder. ForReview provides basic compare features at the folder level, allowing users to easily compare files in two folders and select similar documents in both folders to compare or view.ForReview Application Programming Interface (API)
The ForReview user interface is highly customizable through use of the ForReview API.ForReview is designed to allow users to easily access, review, print and mark-up documents throughout a heterogeneous computing environment, without the expense and support hassles of deploying the originating applications to every desktop. The Professional edition supports over 150 drawing and document formats, including those used by major office and CAD applications. This allows an enterprise to easily deploy ForReview as the single view and mark-up solution required to satisfy the diverse needs of all its departments and users.
