Allegria Software Releases New ForReview Integration Model
Integrations for Leading EDM and PDMs Now Available

Laguna Hills, CA. March 05, 1998. Allegria Software has announced the immediate availability of ForReview integrations with DOCS Open, Documentum, Matrix and Optegra.

Based on input from prospect and customers, Allegria has released its next generation of integrations for its leading view and mark-up product, ForReview, with leading EDM and PDM products.

Features include:

The new integration model simplifies the overall PC desktop. With ForReview running, there is no need to have the EDM/PDM client active. Therefore, during view and mark-up, the user only needs to know one interface.

Queries to the vault or repository can be entered directly from ForReview based on specific criteria. This could include the file type , revision number, part number, author name, etc. For example, a user can ask ForReview to display a list of all AutoCAD files that are at revision level 2.0 and associated with a particular part number. ForReview will then provide a list of all files meeting this criteria for the user to pick from. Either single or multiple files can be selected from the list to view, mark-up or print.

Also, directly from ForReview, the user can easily compare two document revisions stored in the vault. The documents can be automatically overlaid on top of each other, where differences become apparent using ForReview's compare feature. The two documents can also be placed side-by-side for comparison. A good usage of the latter is for comparing an original document (including its mark-ups) to the next revision of the document to see if suggested changes have been implemented.

The new integration model supports routing and workflow services available in the EDM/PDM. Documents can be routed for review purposes. Documents in the workflow process can be detected and loaded for view and mark-up directly through ForReview.

ForReview automatically handles the management of mark-up files for any document. ForReview's mark-up paradigm provides the concept of unlimited mark-up layers per mark-up file, as well as multiple mark-up files that can be associated with any document. This paradigm can support either sequential or concurrent mark-up processes. When checking out a document for viewing, marking up or printing, ForReview always retrieves a read-only copy of the document from the vault which enables the concurrent mark-up process.

The new integration model also provides a facility to handle multiple sessions or user logins without having to exit and re-enter ForReview. For example, one person may have several user logins (belonging to several departments or groups) in the EDM/PDM. If this user needs to access all of them in one desktop session, ForReview will support it.

Also, this new model provides the basic concept of working with a group of documents (or a folder). In many cases, a project may require a number of documents that need to be acted on as a group. ForReview provides basic compare features at the folder level allowing the user to easily compare the files in two folders, and then select similar documents in both folders to compare or view.

Finally, these integrations also provide an easy method for the user to store new documents and previously created mark-ups in the EDM/PDM vault directly through ForReview.

Integrations for Documentum, DOCS Open, Matrix and Optegra are now available based on this new concept. They can be easily obtained for evaluation by calling GTS-GRAL, Inc. and asking for a copy of its new CD sampler. This CD has the latest version of ForReview Professional and Lite, 3DReview and the above plug-in integration modules. There is also a multimedia product presentation as well as complete product documentation on the CD.
