Allegria Software is Formed to Provide Next Generation Imaging & Document Management Products Spin-off of ATC’s ForWare Division will Allow Focus on New Technologies.

Laguna Hills, CA (September 21, 1996). The ForWare division of Advanced Technology Center (ATC) has branched off independently, establishing a new company known as Allegria Software

ATC has been on the leading edge of the rapidly growing market for software products involving document imagining solutions for the past 17 years. Allegria enters the market with ATC’s state-of-the-art family of applications in the view and mark-up arena called ForReview. Allegria will focus on providing feature-rich, market driven software products that can be used either stand-alone, or integrated by either corporate users or OEMs into larger systems and applications. Allegria’s products employ the latest technologies and maximize cross-platform and cross-operating system compatibility.

Upcoming releases of high performance ForReview will further support Allegria’s strong marriage with Internet/Intranet standards within the latest capabilities of Microsoft’s Windows operating environment. Allegria will also extend its product development efforts into related niche markets, such as 3D view and mark-up and EDM/PDM component technology.

According to Bob Bruns, President of Allegria, "During the past year with of ATC, the ForReview product family has grown from being a feature-rich desktop view and mark-up product to becoming the leading solution for Internet/Intranet networkable enterprise-wide view and mark-up applications. With the formation of Allegria as an independent company, we are poised to take the next step. By using the newest integration standards and technologies, we will create an extensible family of highly configurable imaging and document management component-level solutions."

Regarding the technological environment, VP of Strategic Planning Hari Dudani says "Allegria will take full advantage of Microsoft’s new 32-bit Windows environments. We are also utilizing emerging integration tools such as OCX, OLE, VB and Java scripts, ActiveX, Internet Streaming, browser Plug-Ins, and APIs for Internet conferencing and distributed applications. By developing all of our future products as modular components, we will be providing our EDM/PDM partners and end user customers with maximum flexibility for image-enabling their applications."

The existing ForReview family of products provides the perfect vehicle for conducting geographically dispersed concurrent-engineering sessions. While supplying an easy method of viewing and marking up of sophisticated drawings and documents, family members are designed to accommodate the sharing of documentation and design information between corporate partners and clients over Wide Area Networks, Intranets and the powerful Internet.

The products are also cost-effective by eliminating the heavy investment of installing, running and learning multiple software and CAD packages. ForReview can view any type of file on a common PC, regardless of what system created it, and without the need for the originating software. Members of a geographically dispersed design team can all quickly view and mark-up a shared CGM, HPGL or DXF drawing. The original drawing’s integrity will always be protected, as all redlining performed is saved on an electronic "mylar-like" overlay called a mark-up file. Mark-up files can be e-mailed to others for even further review with a click of a button within ForReview itself. A mark-up file is internally "linked" to the original drawing, eliminating the need to copy or transmit it through the network. This helps keep network traffic and required disk space to a minimum, and response time and organization to a maximum.

ForReview Professional provides high performance view and mark-up capabilities for the full range of CAD files, raster files and office documents. In addition, it includes a complete API for integration with other software packages. ForReview Professional pricing starts at $ 595 for single-seat installations. ForReview Lite Express is a "stand-alone version" of ForReview that provides view and mark-up of raster files. Though it comes without the APIs and integration capabilities, is available free by simply downloading it from Allegria’s Internet website.

With its range of product offerings, the ForReview family can satisfy almost any requirement. The products support over 150 drawing and document formats, including those used by major office and CAD applications. The ForReview architecture allows for easy integration into enterprise-wide document management systems. Many "off-the-shelf" integrations are already available, such as with Documentum, Metaphase, HP’s Workmanager, Autodesk’s WorkCenter, ADRA’s Matrix and DOCS OPEN’s PC DOCS. The highly configurable user interface adapts easily for both non-technical users and demanding power-users. This allows an enterprise to easily use one single view and mark-up product to satisfy the diverse needs of all its departments and users.

Allegria is genuinely committed to providing true enterprise-wide solutions that can stand firmly on their own, or assist in making any document/data management system complete.
