FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEAllegria's 3DReview Sets New Standards for
Low-Cost 3D View and Mark-up on the Desktop
View SolidWorks97PLUS & 98 Parts and Assemblies
Laguna Hills, CA. April 7, 1998. Allegria Software Inc. has announced the latest release of its low-cost ($299) 3D visualization and mark-up tool, 3DReview 2.5. 3DReview is a desktop application designed for addressing requirements for 3D file format viewing, reviewing and communicating. As corporations begin to realize the benefits of visualizing 3D models instead of 2D drawings on the desktop, they can easily expand the usage of 3D across engineering, marketing, manufacturing, quality control, purchasing and the like. The first native CAD format has been added to 3DReview. 3DReview can now view both SolidWorks97PLUS and 98. Now SolidWorks users can share their designs with other departments (manufacturing, engineering management, etc.) needing to review the data. Easy access by these departments to SolidWorks files during the design life cycle facilitate review and feedback to design departments, therefore providing faster time to market.
The new key features are:
Viewing
- Cross section view: perform a cross section and ask for a 2D view of it
- Zoom window: click and drag to define a zoom window
- Isometric view: complements perspective view
- Previous zoom: made a mistake-go back one zoom
- Visible vertices: measure to the exact point while picking
- Stored views: define a view, come back to it later, anytime
Interface
- Meet Microsoft standards with Office97 style toolbars
- Provides improved look and feel with completely redesigned icons
- Rotate/Pan/Zoom active while measuring/dimensioning promotes precise measurements/dimensioning
- Split display into 2 different views
- Paste images into documents by copying the current image to the clipboard
- ISO-G Code file extension can be defined by user
Cross Section
- Set cross section plane through 3 vertices for exact cross sections
- Pick cross section vertices while measuring/dimensioning
File Formats
- View SolidWorks97PLUS & 98 parts and assemblies
- View IGES wireframe entities
- Export the current image in BMP format
Dimensions Available
- Vertex coordinate
- Vertex/Vertex distance
- 3 Vertices angle
- Arc from 3 vertices
Miscellaneous
- Units of measurement (mm & inches)
- Faster vertex picking
- Faster graphics
3DReview supports the following 3D file formats:
- SolidWorks97PLUS & 98
- IGES 5.0
- VDA F/S
- STL
- VRML
- ISO-G Codes
- 3DReview
3DReview is available for Windows 95 and NT 4.0. 3DReview is priced at $299/seat or $149/seat if purchased with a ForReview license.
3DReview is easy to use and provides high quality 3D visualization plus many other features. No prior CAD experience is required. Cross sections of a model can be defined and measured with simple points and clicks. Multiple parts of an assembly can be viewed as one even though they may have been created from different CAD systems. ISO-G Codes can be overlaid on an original 3D model to verify numerical control paths before manufacturing. 3DReview can be used to easily communicate over the Internet with suppliers or design teams using 3D models instead of 2D drawings.
